कृमिकुलचितं लालाक्लिन्नं जुगुप्सितंनिरुपमरसं प्रीत्या खादन्नरास्थि निरामिषम् ।सुरपतिमपि श्वा पार्श्वस्थं विलोक्य न शङ्कतेन हि गणयति क्षुद्रो जन्तुः परिग्रहफल्गुताम् ॥८॥kṛmikulacitaṃ lālāklinnaṃ jugupsitaṃnirupamarasaṃ prītyā khādannarāsthi nirāmiṣam |surapatimapi śvā pārśvasthaṃ vilokya na śaṅkatena hi gaṇayati kṣudro jantuḥ parigrahaphalgutām ||8||
Translation
(THE GREEDY NATURE OF THE IGNORANT)
With incomparable greed, the dog, as he bites through the stinking, disgusting, fleshless ‘bone-piece of the donkey’ which is filled with countless crawling worms, and moist by the oozing saliva, he does not feel discomfited even if he sees Indra, the king of Gods standing near him! The ‘lowly being’ does not understand the worthless nature of the object obtained by ‘it’. ॥ 8 ॥
