लाङ्गूलचालनमधश्चरणावपातंभूमौ निपत्य वदनोदरदर्शनं च ।श्वा पिण्डदस्य कुरुते गजपुङ्गवस्तुधीरं विलोकयति चाटुशतैश्च भुङ्क्ते ॥२३॥lāṅgūlacālanamadhaścaraṇāvapātaṃbhūmau nipatya vadanodaradarśanaṃ ca |śvā piṇḍadasya kurute gajapuṅgavastudhīraṃ vilokayati cāṭuśataiśca bhuṅkte ||23||
Translation
(DOG WILL DO ANYTHING TO PLEASE THE MASTER; NOT SO THE ELEPHANT)
Wagging the tail; hitting the ground with the feet; falling on the ground and exposing the face and the belly; all these acts are done by the dog in front of the person who offers it food. But the bull-elephant looks at the food-giver with defiance. He eats only after a lot of cajoling is done. ॥ 23 ॥
