Translation

(THE DIFFICULTY OF SERVING MASTERS)

(A Master is ready to censure his subordinates at the slightest excuse.) If silent he is (censured as) dumb. If he is eloquent or speaks in many languages he is (censured as) talking nonsense. If he stays close by, he is said to be impudent. If he remains at a distance (and quiet), (he is censured that) he does not say anything and is impetuous. If anger is controlled by remaining patient, he is said to be frightened. If not patient, then he is said to belong to a lowly family (with ill manners). The profession of serving others is beyond understanding, even for the Yogis who know everything! ॥ 47 ॥
