तृष्णां छिन्धि भज क्षमां जहि मदं पापे रतिं मा कृथाःसत्यं ब्रूह्यनुयाहि साधुपदवीं सेवस्व विद्वज्जनम् ।मान्यान्मानय विद्विषोऽप्यनुनय प्रख्यापय प्रश्रयंकीर्तिं पालय दुःखिते कुरु दयामेतत्सतां चेष्टितम् ॥६९॥tṛṣṇāṃ chindhi bhaja kṣamāṃ jahi madaṃ pāpe ratiṃ mā kṛthāḥsatyaṃ brūhyanuyāhi sādhupadavīṃ sevasva vidvajjanam |mānyānmānaya vidviṣo'pyanunaya prakhyāpaya praśrayaṃkīrtiṃ pālaya duḥkhite kuru dayāmetatsatāṃ ceṣṭitam ||69||
Translation
(THE QUALITIES OF A GOOD MAN)
Shatter away the desire for sense-pleasures. Develop forbearance. Discard the quality of arrogance. Do not be attracted to sinful acts. Speak the truth. Follow the path of the noble. Serve the men of wisdom. Respect those who are fit to be revered. Adjust with enemies too. Be polite to the elders. Keep maintaining good fame. Be compassionate to the suffering. This is the conduct followed by the good men. ॥ 69 ॥
