परिक्षीणः कश्चित्स्पृहयति यवानां प्रसृतयेस पश्चात्सम्पूर्णः कलयति धरित्रीं तृणसमाम् ।अतश्चानैकान्त्याद्गुरुलघुतयाऽर्थेषु धनिनामवस्था वस्तूनि प्रथयति च सङ्कोचयति च ॥३६॥

parikṣīṇaḥ kaścitspṛhayati yavānāṃ prasṛtayesa paścātsampūrṇaḥ kalayati dharitrīṃ tṛṇasamām |ataścānaikāntyādgurulaghutayā'rtheṣu dhanināmavasthā vastūni prathayati ca saṅkocayati ca ||36||

Translation

(THE WEALTHY MAN)

A person who has lost everything wants to spread off the seeds on the land. Later on, when he has everything, he disregards the land as worthless grass. That is why the approach of the wealthy towards objects expands or contracts their perceived worth. ॥ 36 ॥
