किं गतेन यदि सा न जीवति प्राणिति प्रियतमा तथापि किंइत्युदीक्ष्य नवमेघमालिकां न प्रयाति पथिकः स्वमन्दिरम्‌ ॥६६॥

kiṃ gatena yadi sā na jīvati prāṇiti priyatamā tathāpi kiṃityudīkṣya navameghamālikāṃ na prayāti pathikaḥ svamandiram‌ ||66||

Translation

“Suppose my beloved is alive no more, what use is there in my going there (to meet her)? Suppose she is alive still, even then what use is there in my going there?” (I need not bother) The traveler speaks thus to the freshly risen row of clouds and does not return home. ॥ 66 ॥
